Nové Oslavany – Revealing the Story Behind the New Streets
One of the streets will be named after Václav Čapek, a distinguished teacher and school principal, ornithologist and paleornithologist, who spent much of his life in Oslavany. Čapek became renowned throughout Europe for being the first to thoroughly describe the life cycle of the cuckoo. His research focused mainly on recent and Pleistocene ornithology, and he authored numerous publications on birdlife from the Moravian Diluvium.
Since birds were his lifelong passion, other new streets in this neighborhood will also be named after bird species. Which ones exactly? That will remain a little secret for now – to be unveiled later.
The proposed street names are now awaiting discussion and approval by the town council. However, we are confident that Nové Oslavany will combine modern living with a story connecting nature and the legacy of a personality the town can rightfully be proud of.
